First Line Fridays [October 25 2019]

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

• Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page

• Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first

• Finally… reveal the book!

I drove a fist into the oak tree, feeling the familiar sting of a fresh wound as my knuckles split open. Bleeding helped me breathe better. I didn’t know what it meant, but it made Mom cry in her bathroom when she thought no one could hear.

It’s…

Synopsis:

Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

Luna Rexroth is everyone’s favorite wallflower.

Sweet.
Caring.
Charitable.
Quiet.
Fake.
Underneath the meek, tomboy exterior everyone loves (yet pities) is a girl who knows exactly what, and who, she wants—namely, the boy from the treehouse who taught her how to curse in sign language.
Who taught her how to laugh.
To live.
To love.
Knight Cole is everyone’s favorite football hero.
Gorgeous.
Athletic.
Rugged.
Popular.
Liar.

This daredevil hell-raiser could knock you up with his gaze alone, but he only has eyes for the girl across the street: Luna.

But Luna is not who she used to be. She doesn’t need his protection anymore.
When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes.

Sometimes, the greatest love stories flourish in tragedy.

I found this book from a live show on YouTube by Chandler Ainsley. I did not watch this since I have not read it yet, but I plan to once I read it soon. It sounds like it’ll be good since it seems like this author is very popular!

Have you read this book? Would you like to? Let me know below any and all of your thoughts. Please also share your first line Friday posts with me.

  1. I have read this one and it’s part of the All Saints High series which is a spin off of the Sinners of Saint series (I didn’t read them all) but basically the All Saints are the kids of the couples from Sinners of Saint! I enjoyed the first one Pretty Reckless more than Broken Knight only because this one was filled with a lot of angst between the couple but it was a bit too much for me haha. And then the ending took a sad turn, it helps to know the back story of Knight’s parents though, but I never read that book. I liked Luna though and her character growth. 🙂
