Deadly Secrets [Anne Girdharry- Book Review]

Thank you to Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources for sending me free copy of Deadly Secrets in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own .

20 years ago, two boys went missing from Bladen Hall, an Approved School for young offenders. The school closed shortly after and the boys were never found. And now, this cold case has come back into the spotlight. Nurse Michelle Dixon is kind and caring. She loves her job, and cares for Mr Quinn on his deathbed. Before he dies, he tells her his secret — and hours later, Nurse Dixon is murdered. What happened to Barry and Kevin? And who killed Nurse Dixon? Detective Inspector David Grant investigates, working alongside Ruby Silver, a criminal psychologist.

You can find Deadly Secrets on Goodreads and buy a copy from Amazon on paperback and Kindle. It’s also available to borrow with your Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Below is my review of this book:

This book is a sequel, but I thought it did well as a standalone. I had no problem keeping up or knowing what was happening. Girdharry just writes that well, it is easy to follow the story and become invested.

I am a huge fan of police procedurals, and this one was able to keep me invested into the late hours of the night because I was anxious to know how the entire story was going to unfold. The author has a way with words and images to keep the reader wanting more, especially to find out who the murderer was. I was so engrossed, it was three in the morning before I knew it and the book was done.

Because of a deathbed confession and a nurse being killed, Detective Grant in thrown into another investigation. There are so many shocks and wows, I was constantly picking my jaw off the floor. And the killer was a surprise, I was like almost screaming when it was revealed because I had not even the slightest inclination to who it was. This is the mark of a great book for me.

I had never read anything by this author, but I know I will be picking up more of her books soon. She definitely has a way with words I enjoy, and this seems like a series I could really get invested in. The characters are interesting and the writing is fast paced and engrossing.

Overall, this is an amazing book I could not get enough of. I highly suggest this for fans of thrillers and police procedurals, they will not be disappointed.
