Here is my review:
I have not read this author before, but it was an amazing read. I would recommend this to all of those who enjoy crime fiction and those types of shows as well. To me, this book was just as good as bingeing a great police procedural on TV.
I read this book in one day, and I could not put it down. It was very addictive, and I enjoyed every moment. Though I have never been out of America, this story made me want to travel to Edinburgh. Just for a vacation though and not to be involved in like crime or anything.
This book can be read as a stand-alone. Which was really fun. And this story is even better because there is not just a white dude as the lead. This made me love the book even more because of how diverse it is. I thought this alone was something I would love to see more in crime fiction. I get a little sick of the same white dude with a drinking problem being the hero of a crime novel. This was a great reprieve from it.
I was engaged by this book the whole time. It was never dull. I was interested in all of the characters and their stories. It is so well done, and it is like enjoying a crime show. This is why the book is good, just really gripping. I could not get enough.
The serial killer story was so intense, and I was rushing through pages to see what was going to happen. This was also a story about how LGBT people can be targeted and how society needs to pay more attention to those who are often ignored. I thought it was wonderful to see attention brought to those often overlooked and they were treated with dignity and kindness.
Overall, this is a fantastic read. Like so damn good. I could not put this book down, and I thought it was some of the best crime fiction I have read in a long time. This is must for any and all crime fans. I will be picking up more by this author.
