I was lazy, so I did not do my wrap up earlier in the week like I had meant to. But I think that’s okay. Still, here are the books I finished the last week. I did read some others, but I did not enjoy them as much. Hence, these are the books I finished and actually enjoyed. So far, September has been better for me in reading and I am hoping to bring you more weekly wrap ups with more books. But let’s wait and see what happens first.
These are really the only books I enjoyed this past week:
Southern Bred and Dead by Angie Fox
Read my full review here.
I thought this was a fun cozy mystery and I am planning to pick up the earlier books in the series since this one was book 9. It is a clean story, with just kissing and no major violence. A small town romance with some paranormal elements.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson Books 1-3
Stevie Bell is accepted into Ellingham Academy, a special school with a mystery. The benefactor’s wife and daughter were kidnapped, but the case was never solved. Stevie specializes in crimes. She is determined to solve the case.
I had seen these books around, and I decided to take the plunge and read them all. I read them all in a few days, and I found them to be very enjoyable. I liked the true crime element, along with the boarding school setting. I thought the way the stories were interwoven with the past and present were really interesting. Stevie is a cool MC, and I am now excited for the next book. The only thing I did not like was her love interest. The book would have been just fine without this element. I think this is a great way for teens to enjoy mysteries without too much. Or just anyone who wants a good mystery story.
I had a pretty good reading week, and I have actually already finished four books as I am typing this up. Joining reading events on Facebook really helps to motivate me, and I have a lot of fun with them. I would love to know what you read recently. Share with me all the books.
