My Review:

This book is… interesting. I did not know what to expect when I started. I just thought the cover with The blurb sounded like it would be a good read, and I picked it up the soonest I could. I ended up staying up until 2 am reading this book because I had no idea what was going to happen next. I read many thrillers, but this one did a great job of keeping me interested while making sure the plot was well done.

The audio book was well done, and it was great to read this story again for a blog tour in December. This is one of my favorite books of the year, and I bring it up as a recommendation often.

Regi has OCD and lives with a bunch of 20 something women in a house. She does not talk about her past, and she doesn’t know how to deal with all of her compulsions sometimes. She thinks she is in a healthy place, but she is scared to confront some of her past issues. She is also a student at the university, her way to start over from her past perhaps. When one of her house mates shares with her an Instagram with her of a famous cleaning influencer, Regi becomes very obsessed. She watches all the stories and follows all the comments, not liking the way a troll is treating her favorite Mrs Clean. Regi gets very deep into her obsession with her Mrs Clean, and she will do whatever it takes to stop the troll.

There is also a little boy next door Regi thinks is being abused. She only sees him occasionally, but she just has a bad feeling. Unsure of what to do, she contemplates how to handle what is going on next door. This also relates to her past as well, but it was surprising to see how this part of the story unfolded.

Nina Manning left me wondering what was going to happen next a lot of the time in this book, and it made me want to keep reading. There were some things I figured out on my own, one thing I was spoiled for (I was mad), and some parts were a total surprise. Nina Manning writes about OCD very well in the book, and I think Regi is a realistic character. I could relate to her with her mental illness and the way it is easy to become obsessed with instagram.

Without spoiling the book, I was surprised by some of the twists which occurred. I did figure out a minor one, but I think it was easy if you pay attention. The book has a lot of topics happening towards the end, and I did think some of them were a little absurd. However, the rest of the book made up for it.

Overall, this is a great thriller I would suggest to new and old thriller fans. I don’t know what it is, but I just tend to prefer the thrillers written by UK authors and set there. They always have the better shock factor.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for The ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
